How to choose your size in handmade shoes
Buying shoes online is easy once you know your exact measurement. Handmade leather shoes mould to your foot with wear, but the starting size has to be right. Here is how to measure yourself at home in two minutes, plus the conversion chart we use in our workshop.

How to measure your foot
- Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall.
- Stand with your heel against the wall and mark the longest toe.
- Measure the distance in centimetres.
If you are between sizes, choose the larger one for extra comfort.
Advice by shoe type
Always measure in the afternoon
Feet swell during the day. Measuring in the afternoon avoids picking a size that will feel tight later. Measure both feet and keep the larger one: almost nobody has two identical feet.
Sandals: your usual size
Open sandals have a forgiving last. If you are between sizes, pick the one you normally wear in leather footwear.
Clogs: if in doubt, go half a size up
Clogs have a closed toe box and a firm instep. If you are between two sizes, we recommend the larger one: your foot will thank you when walking.
Loafers and shoes: snug at first
Spanish-tanned leather gives a few millimetres over the first wears. A new shoe should feel snug, never painful; within a week it will have shaped itself to your foot.
Between two sizes, choose the larger
It is the rule we apply in the workshop. Half a size too big is fixed with a thin insole; half a size too small has no fix.
